A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

The Baddies have taken hold of the playground. Will you be able to free it before recess ends, or will their rule become permanent?

Description

Cumulo Morphis is a puzzle-platforming-game where you aid the protagonist to reach their goal. Remember the clouds from Super Mario? Neither do we. But in this game, you control one, and you have to make smart decisions to see the protagonist save the day.

This game was created in collaboration with LaserFocus for the Indie Game Clinic COLLAB JAM '25.

The theme was: "You are not the main character".

Development Details

(by LaserFocus)

On the first week, we discussed several potential gameplay ideas. We settled on the idea of controlling a cloud helping a character moving around. This was based on how clear we could imagine the gameplay and implementation while discussing. We then proceeded on making a GDD using the format introduced by IGC (the game-jam's host). Although we already had a clear idea on who is going to do what, we created a list of tasks on Trello to manage the project.

On week 2, pixelmaschine focused on creating the Player and Main Character Controllers. While I started on making sprites for the Main Character. Nothing really changed much on week 3, we're still developing on the controllers and making more sprites for the Cloud and some interactable objects. In-between, we discussed about what should be included in the finished state. At first, we wanted the cloud to have 3 abilities: platform, thunder, and bounce. We had to cut out the bounce since it didn't sound feasible. What we agreed on is that we have to include an intro sequence, and this is uncompromisable.

On week 4, we worked on other systems such as enemy and object scripts, HUD. On the remaining few days, I implemented all the game levels and the intro scene. While, pixelmaschine brought the game to life by implementing all the audio/visual-polish.

Through this project, we learned a lot about game design and game-dev in general.
I want to thank pixelmaschine for the amazing collaboration, and Indie Game Clinic for hosting this jam.

Thank you everyone for playing Cumulo Morphis, hope you have a great day.
